Morris "Mo" Davis - DCDR
Welcome to the Division 1 web site. Our Division has a rich heritage and is a very integral component of District Eight Coastal Region, of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. We serve from St. Marks on the east to the Florida border on the west and includes parts of Southern Alabama and Georgia.
We are a uniformed, volunteer organization which has over 30,000 members nationally. Two hundred and fifty of these members are in this Division. Our primary mission is to provide boating safety instruction and information to the boating public. This is done through offering safe boating courses, complimentary vessel examinations and information displays. These displays are located in marinas, boat dealerships, marine parts stores and other locations where boaters often frequent. Our members are offered advanced training and other opportunities to increase their boating skills. Furthermore, we act as a force multiplier for the U.S. Coast Guard by serving as radio watch-standers, performing marine patrols, assist with search and rescue missions and various other operational or administrative jobs. Fellowship within our ranks is another important part of our organization.
Our members have very diverse backgrounds and therefore, bring multiple skill sets and experience to the organization. Some of these members joined us with little or no boating experience, while others are licensed Captains. We have retired Military members and members with no military experience. The common denominator for all our members however, is their love of Country, love of the water and the desire to help others have a safe and enjoyable boating experience.
I hope that your visit to our web site is an enjoyable one. Please feel free to look around and visit the web site of the Flotilla nearest you. If you would like to attend a safe boating course, have you boat inspected or join the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary please feel free to click on the appropriate link or contact the nearest Flotilla.
To our members, this is your website, so please visit it often. If you have any suggestions and/or updates, please contact our Division Staff Officer. I consider it an honor to be able to serve as your Division Commander for 2011. Thanks for putting your trust in me.
Mo Davis
